Well it definately feels like winter now here at BE. All of our temporary summer staff have now long gone and we're just left with our usual skeleton full time crew. It's Rambo's last week too till he leaves us for pastures new. He's off to work for a ski season in the French Alps but hopefully he'll be back with us next summer for more fun and games.
He Ant and Luke all went for a days moto x on Sunday at Gonerby Moor in Grantham. Check out the pics, Rambo's getting some serious air of those jumps!
Elsewhere here at BE we've been to some interesting events this week. We've delivered to the Relentless Freeze Festival at the Battersea Power Station, the Showmans show in Newbury, a couple of Beer Festivals and the usual local hotels, Golf clubs etc etc that keep us ticking by this time of year.
We're still busy with sales too. We've only just had a container full of stretch barriers and we've already sold out of the Blue ones. We must be too cheap!!

Mixed results for team BE at Brands Hatch

Ant chasing ex BSS Champion Dave Heal at Brands Hatch last weekend

Team BE Racing were out at Brands Hatch for the penultimate round of the ICGP Championship last weekend. Ant had tyre issues in race 1 which meant he had to settle for a steady 6th and then in a wet second race he got a bad start, worked his way up to 6th before running off track and having to rejoin and take a 9th position. The weekend could've gone a lot better but a least the bike came back in one piece ready for the final round in Spain in two weeks time.

It's a shame but the summer is definately over now and the good weather that we had at the end of September has been replaced with the normal wind and rain that us Brit's expect for this time of year. As per usual our work changes as the seasons change. We are now supplying to more indoor events such as trade shows and conferences etc.
We've supplied furniture to a couple of large Beer Festivals this week though so there are obviously some outdoor events still going on. We've also got some aluminium furniture going to the showmans show next week and we're supplying a local dairy with some tables this week for them to pack there christmas hampers on! That's a real sign that summer is over.

BE Builds up for the August Bank Holiday

Hey there blog fans, it's been a while I know but up until now we've had a busy summer! We've got a quiet week this week for some reason but it's just the calm before the storm as just about everything that we own is out on hire over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We've got Leeds and Reading Festivals to deliver, 2 large caravan and camping shows to do, Greenbelt Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse, Shrewsbury Folk Festival and a large town show in Manchester to name but a few.
Rambo and Matt have just got back from 5 days at the Berlin Beer Festival and to be honest it looks like it has taken it's toll on them!
Other big news...Jez is finally selling his van. He's been valeting it for about a month now so if anyone wants a mint but very slow escort van, he's your man!
Team BE went for a days Moto x at Gonerby Moor in Grantham at the weekend. It was all going well for Ant, Luke, Kris and Simon until Luke somehow lost it on the landing of a jump and somebody who was behind him landed on his bike. I've never seen a moto x bike so badly damaged. At least he will want lots of overtime to pay for it all.
Ant is racing at Darley Moor this weekend too so we'll let you know how he does there next week.

The other half of team B.E was not so successful this last weekend. Rambo finished a respectable 16th place in the first moto at Wymswold in a field of 26 riders. Having recently moved up into the experts class, Rambo was pushing hard in his second race having just passed another rider when the back stepped out and he was high sided into an approaching jump. Unfortunately this resulted in a badly broken collar bone so no racing for Rambo for the next few weeks.

Ant had his best result so far in the ICGP series. Up against faster machinery Ant fought hard for two fourth place finishes at last weekends round of the ICGP. In both races the three front runners disappeared down the first straight on the first lap due to their superior top speed. Ant however fought valiant race long battle's to eventually finnish fourth in both races. No more could be expected or asked for from Ant, all we need now is more power please Arnold if Ant is to achieve a podium position.

With summer fast approaching, and the weather getting nicer it's hotting up at BE. Now the furniture's finally all back safe and sound from the elections centres all around the country, it wasn't long in the sheds before Neil was forking it back on to the arctic to go off to the Spring Music Festival in Derbyshire! Luckily the sun's been out so Rambo and Jez have been able to give a fresh lick of paint to a large amount of picnic benches, which are being sent to a Rally show in Oxfordshire.

Tony and Mark have been in the woodshed hastily making tables as it's only a couple of weeks away till our biggest order yet, of 5000 tables!

Ant is hoping to do better racing at Anglesey this weekend after the disappointment that was Donington Park. With his ignition now sorted out, and 9 races over the weekend he should be able to get back to his winning form.

BE at the elections

We're having another manic week here this week as the local elections get under way all accross the uk. We were out all over the country on Tuesday collecting everything in from all the royal wedding party's, then everthing had to be unloaded, checked and reloaded for delivery for this weeks elections. We've got over 2000 tables in leisure centre's all across the uk ready for tonights vote count which all need picking up at the weekend so we'll be busy then too.
Elections aside we've also supplied to a large craft show this week, a Beer festival in Banbury and we've taken an artic full of tables and chairs to the interestingly named Norfolk & Norwich Festival which starts tomorrow and lasts until the 21st May.

Elsewhere, BE sponsored rider Ant Hart was racing at Donington Park at the weekend and although he broke down in the big race he did get a 3rd, a 5th and a 7th which wasn't bad as the bike is still having brake and ignition problems. His next race is at Anglesey in two weeks time.

Joe has also had a busy couple of weeks wrapping and packing our sales furniture ready for dispatch. I think Tuesday was a record day for parcels, we certainly filled the couriers van to the roof with aluminium garden sets that day. See-im-off will soon need a bigger van at this rate!

BE at the Royal Wedding

What a busy week we're having this week as the country goes crazy for the Royal Wedding. We are supplying furniture to all kinds of street party's all across the UK and we are even delivering to Central London on the day of the wedding so that's going to be fun for James and Ant. Rambo's taking an Artic full of Picnic Benches to Manchester for a large street party and Marks going to Birmingham and Leicester for much of the same.
Then to top it all off, the local elections start next week so we've got all the furniture to collect then get it straight out again for those.
Busy times!!!!

A Marathon Week for BE

Well it's been another fun week for us here at BE Event Hire with lots going on as per usual. We've yet again supplied tables for the London Marathon for all the drink stops and we've also been to two other venues in London...not easy when the M1 is closed for the best part of a week due to a fire at a scrap yard. Rambo and Tony have been out in their artic trucks as we've supplied furniture to a huge motorhome show in Peterborough and also to a large antique fair near Brighton. James, yet again, has been dotting around taking care of the local delivery and collections and Jez, Tony and Mark are all busy in the manufacturing building making new tables for the summer. We've got Zach here with us this week too while his university breaks for easter so he's been helping Neil and the team get the furniture ready whilst Joe has been wrapping all the furniture for selling.
We've got another container coming tomorrow morning full of more Aluminium furniture so hopefully that will sell well and clear some valuble space on our racking!

Team BE's rider Ant Hart has just returned from Catalunya in Spain where he competed in the 1st round of the ICGP championship. The weekend started very badly with a holed piston in free practice followed by an ignition failure in qualifying that left him on the back of the grid for both races.
Race 1 he got a great start and from 32nd on the grid came round the first lap in 7th. It wasn't to last unfortunately though, as the bike expired with another holed piston on lap 4 resulting in a DNF. Arnold Fletcher (the bikes owner) then spent 10 hours rebuilding the engine from scratch for Sundays race so the team needed some kind of result else the weekend would've been a disaster.
Starting from last on the grid again Hart made a reasonable start and began to pick the riders off one by one making it up to 6th postition by the end of the race.
All in all not a great result but given the circumstances he was just happy to finish and get some points on the board.
The next round is in Holland at the Assen TT circuit on May 21st and 22nd.

BE at the Grand National

We've added another high profile event to our list this week as Rambo has delivered an artic load of furniture to Aintree racecourse for the Grand National which is taking place this weekend so that kept Neil and his band of merry men busy for most of last week. We had a large quantity of Cheltenham Gilt chairs out this week as well which again took a lot of time to prepare as we like to respray them every time they go out to keep their appearance like new.
The selling side of the business is going well too now that spring is firmly upon us. We have a couple more containers of Ali furniture coming into the country in the next few days so we should be pretty well stocked up for the busy summer period now.
Finally, team BE is off to the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona this week as Ant has his first race of the season in the ICGP European Championship. With only one free practice session before qualifying it's not going to be easy to learn the circuit but we'll see how he gets on when he returns next week.

Well we're back to normal again this week after a week away organising the Peterborough Festival of Antiques. We had some amazing weather for the time of year which led to record crowds on the Friday and a good turnout on the Saturday too. It was great to see Miles Zach and Luke again and I'm looking forward to getting the photo's back which Miles took all week on his camera.
Elsewhere this week work is picking up with the hire furniture as the weather improves. We've got an artic going to the Grand National in Aintree, another artic full of furniture going to Stoneleigh Showground and a large quantity of chairs and tables going to Loughborough University. James has had a couple of trips to London in the van delivering benches and we've even had the two most powerful people in the country sat at our bar stools this week. Yes that's right, the Ant and Dec of politics David Cameron and Nick Clegg were sat at our Bar Stools in a question and answer session at the Boots HQ in Nottingham. So now BE is not only the official(ish)supplier for the Royal Family (although we are still waiting for our invite Wills and Kate) but we are also the favoured choice for World Leaders!

A day at the races

For the first time since we moved to our new premises last November we've finally had some sunshine this week so the place has had a bit more of a summer feel to it. The racking is all up now and we have filled it as much as we can but we are still waiting for our new reach truck to come so that we can utilise the top two beams and also the narrow aisle. It should've been here last week but we are now told it should come today which will be good news. We've also had the drive re laid this weekend too so the whole place is looking much neater.
Delivery wise we've been fairly quiet as is the norm for this time of year. Rambo and James have had a day out at the races delivering to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in the Artic and 7.5T and we've had plenty of small local deliveries to do too. We've been to a Carp Conference in Essex, had some banqueting chairs at Loughborough Uni, delivered some exam desks to a police exam in Nottingham and had some exhibition panels at a boxing match in Sleaford.
Even though we've been fairly quiet with delivery's we've all been busy prepairing for our own event that starts next week, the Peterborough Festival of Antiques. It's one of the country's largets antique fairs with over 1700 stalls and it's on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th March 2011. For more info visit www.bobevansfairs.co.uk

Successful days testing for team BE

Well despite the bad weather team BE had a successful first day's testing at Mallory Park last Saturday. Both Ant and Rambo got four dry sessions in each before the rain came so it was enough for Ant to run all three bikes in and check the new suspension and brake mods to his Yamaha and for Rambo to get to grips with riding on tarmac. It was his first ever ride on a road race bike and he got his lap time down to 1.08 which isn't a bad lap at all for his first time out. He's planning a couple more test sessions to get himself more upto speed before he enters his first race in April where-as Ant has his first races in March. We'll keep you posted on there progress on here.

Gilt chairs anyone?

Well the racking is all up and complete so we've spent the start of this week filling it with our stocks of furniture. We've had the bottom rail positioned a little higher than normal so that we can get our chairs underneath untilising every bit of space possible. As you can see by the photo's our 1000 + Cheltenham Gilt chairs go under part of the racking nicely. Elsewhere this week we've been out and about all over the country as per usual. Rambo's been trucking in the artic down to a large antique fair near the south coast and James has been here, there and everywhere in our vans and 7.5T trucks.
Joe has had a fairly busy week wrapping the furniture that we have sold so we now just need the new reach truck to arrive and we can get all the sales stock on the racking too.
Team BE are also gearing up for a test session at Mallory Park this weekend. Ant has some new parts to try on two of his Yamaha's and it will be Rambo's first taste of Tarmac (not literally we hope!) as he switches from Moto x to Road Racing.

Ooo, Great Rack!

It's been an interesting week for us here at BE this week. We've had the guys in from Total Interiors installing our new pallet racking which should give us space for a further 184 pallets which will enable us to increase our stocks of both sales and hire equipment. Our new reach forklift should arrive in the next few days too so we will be all tooled up ready for another busy summer.
Work wise this week we've had another good week for the time of year. James, Mark and Jez are all in London today setting up a stamp fair in Westminster and we've got the British Shooting Show to deliver to tomorrow and a stage to erect at the Melton Mowbray Bowls Club.
Joe has been rushed off his feet this week with the wrapping as the new stocks of Aluminium Furniture starts to sell. He's only been back with us for two weeks but he's settled back into it well. He even managed to get here on time on Monday despite his pedal falling off on his push bike 4 miles into his 8 mile journey. I would love to have seen him pedalling one footed for the rest of the way. Luckily, the jack of all trades (master of none!) Jez was on hand to fix it for him in his lunch break.
On a final note, congratulations to Rambo for passing his ACU test for his motorcycle race licence. One more hurdle done. Team BE should be having a days testing on Saturday 5th March at there local circuit Mallory Park so we'll see how he and Ant do there.

James' day at the Opera

Well James has had an interesting week this week. He's currently on his way down to the Royal Opera House in London to deliver some of our wooden trestle tables. It's one of the few venue's in the country that we've never been to so that's another to add to our list. We've also got a couple of trucks at the ice arena in Nottingham setting up for an event today and a large event in Loughborough to supply to.
The outdoor garden furniture is starting to sell again too with the weather picking up a little so we've taken on Joe again for a few months to be our "wrapper and packer" until he goes back to uni in September.
Tony and his team in the manufacturing warehouse are busy making new tables ready for the summer. They've got a target of 1,000 to make but with Marks current attendance record and Jez's meticulous attention to detail (but not speed!) poor Tony is going to have to work night and day to reach that goal. At least it keeps them all busy eh!

BE Racing

BE sponsered rider Ant Hart is gearing up for the 2011 season as he compete's in the ACU National 350 Championship, the ICGP European Championship as well as the 125 Post Classic Championship. It will be a busy season for Ant who starts the season at Mallory Park on March 27th before flying over to Catalunya in Spain for the 1st round of the European Series on April 9th and 10th.
We'll keep you posted on his results throughout the season on here.

We had an exciting delivery this week here at BE with two containers of Aluminium Furniture arriving. One of the containers was full of Chairs of all different varieties and the other full of Ali Tables. We've got some new products that we've not tried before including some 80cm diameter rolled edge ali tables which will hopefully be good sellers. We've also been incredibly short staffed this week! Rambo's been in Australia for the whole of January, James has been off on Holiday, Mark has had an ear infection and Richard has unfortunately left us to go and work in Devon so it has just left 5 of us here to keep things going.
Another point of interest this week was that we've had furniture at the Long Clawson Dairy for the visit of Prince Charles so yet again our furniture is by Royal Appointment!

January is always a quiet time of year for us all here at BE Furniture so it gives us time to catch up and refurbish some of our hire stock. Neils been checking through over 5000 trestle tables and taking out any that need washing, repairing or re-naming etc so that we are ready when the busy season kicks off again. Mark and Tony have been making new stocks of tables and repairing any of the older ones that need attention and James has been out and about in the van taking care of our local deliveries and collections. Tony has had one trip out in the Artic down to an Antiques Fair near Brighton. Rambo normally does this trip but he is currently avoiding the floods in Australia at the moment. He's gone out there for a 3 week holiday so he should be back with us before the end of the month.
We've been having a big winter sale here too of all the things we don't need now that we are in the new premises. We're selling our shunter vehicle, a couple of old 40' trailers that we used for storage and a couple of Rough Terrain forklifts now that we can use the smaller industrial type here. It all helps to go towards a large area of racking that we have planned for our ever increasing stock of sales furniture. We have a couple of containers coming to us this month and another 3 due shortly after that so we really need the extra pallet space that the racking gives us!

B.E's on the move!

Firstly apologies for the lack of blogs over the last few weeks but as you can see by the photo's we've had an exciting time moving into our new premises. It's been all hands on deck since the end of the summer and we've just about got everything in place now. The photo's above were taken just before the pallet racking went up and before we started moving all the furniture in so it looks a little different now that we have over 5,000 tables and 20,000 chairs in. The outside looks a little different too as pretty much since the day we moved in it has been covered in snow!

Hire wise we have been suprisingly busy for the time of year. We've just done a job to the Excel in London for over 2500 tables which kept us busy for a few days especially with the snow hampering things a little. We also have several stages going out for Christmas functions all over the country in the next few weeks not to mention the usual local deliveries and collections that keep James, Mark and Jez busy.

As you can see by the bottom photo the property features a large galleried showroom for all of our ever increasing sales stock. We have some exiting new products now that will be on our website in the next couple of days too including some very practical folding blowmold tables so keep your eye out for those.
We've also got some more Aluminium furniture on the way so that should be arriving in the next few weeks so keep your eyes on the website for some great deals.

Great weekend for Team BE!

Team BE had a very successful weekends racing with Ant wrapping up another championship and Rambo having a good showing first time out with the experts. Ant was racing 3 different bikes at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire and in the 9 races he had he ended up winning 6 and coming 2nd in 3, giving him the 125 championship for the 5th year in succession. The weekend started badly for the BE backed rider with a siezed engine in practice but then a fellow competitor lent him his spare and although down on power was good enough to win all 3 races.
In the post classic 750 races Ant was riding Arnold Fletcher's 350cc F2 bike and although up against much bigger capacity machine's he took another 3 victories on that too.
He couldn't quite manage the clean sweep though. Riding his Yamaha TZ350 in the Post Classic Group 1 race he couldn't quite match the leaders pace and had to settle for the runners-up spot in all 3 races.
Rambo meanwhile has just made the big step up from Senior to Expert's in the AMCA Moto cross championship, and had his first taste of the action this weekend at Ollerton. He made good starts in all 3 races and gradually improved on his positions all day, finishing up with a 24th, 21st and in the final race a well earned 17th. I'm sure with a bit more practice he will soon be up front winning races again.

Well the summer season has finally come to an end so we've had to say goodbye to all of our part time workers and we are back to our normal numbers of staff for the next few months. It was another busy summer for us both with the Hire and the Sales side of the business, so much so that we are going to have to move to a larger depot to keep up with our ever increasing stocks. We have purchased a property nearby which is much larger and much more suited to our needs so I will keep you up to date with how that is going and when we are going to move in, but it is exciting times for us here and it should mean we can provide a better service for both hire and sales in the future.
In other news, despite the awful weather the Peterborough Festival of Antiques event that we organise went well, with record number of stalls and a good turnout on both days. We are still delivering furniture all over the country as per usual, we've been down to Earls Court in London twice this week, we have furniture at a fun run in Peterborough, an Event for Iceland at the NIA in Birmingham as well as the final round of the British Superbikes Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
Richard can only just keep up with the demand of packing all the furniture that we sell so that side of the business is as busy as ever. We will be having another delivery in the next couple of weeks so I will keep you posted on any new products that arrive with that.
Finally good luck to Ant and Rambo again this weekend. Ant is racing several bikes at the CRMC Race of the Year at Cadwell Park this weekend where good results would see him sew up the 125 championship for the fifth consecutive year, and Rambo is racing at Ollerton in an AMCA event. He has recently been moved up into the experts so it will be interesting to see how he fares against the top opposition.
I'll let you know how they both do after the weekend!

Sorry I've been a bit slow on the blog for the last couple of weeks but we've been flat out organising our own event the Peterborough Festival of Antiques which takes place at the East of England showground at Peterborough on the 1st and 2nd October.
Its all set to be a great event, we're just about fully booked in the halls so we should have about 2000 stalls again as last year.
It's a great day out with something to see for everyone with items ranging from a few pence to several thousand pounds, so if your looking for something to do next friday or saturday why not pop down and see us.
The gates open from 7.00 am on friday and 9.00 am on the saturday. Admission is £10.00 for early trade (7.00-10.00 on friday) and £5.00 all other times.

BE Flies ahead of the competition!

We've been a bit quieter with delivery's this week but it's a good job as we've been flat out collecting all the furniture in from the Bank Holiday weekend. We've had 3 or 4 Artic loads a day to bring back so Rambo and Tony have been non-stop all week. James, Jez and Mark have been out in our 7.5 Tonne trucks all week and we've had a fleet of vans out too all collecting the 18,000 chairs and 5,000 tables that were out last week.
We've got another delivery of sale furniture due in this week so I'll keep you informed what exiting new products are going to be on sale.
Ant and Rambo had mixed fortunes out racing last week.
Rambo won his AMCA senior race for the second time running where-as Ant was knocked off at over 100mph whilst battling for the lead in the ICGP race at Cadwell Park. The race was stoppped but Ant was unable to get out on his spare bike in time. The only consolation was he got to sit in the stand and watch Josh Brooks do his amazing jump over the mountain! Its been another hectic week at BE Event Hire as we've been delivering furniture all over the country getting ready for the Bank Holiday Weekend. This week we have delivered over 15,000 chairs and 4,000 tables to events such as the Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Leeds and Reading music festivals, a couple of large religious festivals and a town show in Manchester. We've also had lots of smaller local events to take care of so James, Mark and Jez have been making several deliveries per day in our fleet of 7.5 Tonne trucks.

Its coming up to August Bank Holiday so we're rushed off our feet here at BE Event Hire getting furniture ready for the various events coming up. Success at Donington Park

Team BE had a successful weekend as Donington Park re-opened for the first time in over a year. A lot of the National Press were there to see British Superbike Star and fans favorite Chris Walker open the circuit which has been closed since the Formula 1 bid got rejected last year. Team BE's rider Ant had good results with 3 wins and a 2nd in the 125 race, a 3rd and 4th in the 350GP race and a pair of 2nd places in the Post Classic group two races. Ant was also entered into the prestigious Wheatcroft Trophy race where he had a great battle to finish 4th against some very tough opposition. The next outing in the series is at the Cadwell Park BSB round on the August Bank Holiday.

Team BE gets ready for the re-opening of Donington Park

Well its been yet another busy week for us here at BE Event Hire and its set to get even busier with the August Bank Holiday just around the corner.
We've been all over the country again this week as per usual delivering to places such as V Festival in Chelsmford, a large Beer Festival in Worcester, the "Bulldog Bash" in Stratford and a large Motorhome show in Malvern to name but a few.
Everybody seems to be back from there summer holidays too so we're back to full staff which will be handy for getting everything ready for the next couple of weeks.
Team BE is going well too. Rambo had his first win last weekend on his CR250 in the AMCA Motocross race at Wymeswold, taking the race by over 8 seconds! He went on to finish 8th in the second race after an early fall, but then redeemed himself by winning the final race of the day to take 1st place overall.
Ant will be racing several bikes this weekend too, as Donington Park re-opens for the first time this year to host the 6th round of the CRMC championship. He will be riding his Honda MT125, a Yamaha TZ350G and also Arnold Fletcher's Formula 2 Yamaha for the first time in this country. This is the bike he usually uses in the european championship but the team are using it as a test session for the race with the BSB at Cadwell park over the August Bank Holiday. I'll keep you posted how he gets on here.

Hi all, sorry we've been a bit short on the blogs the last couple of weeks but its holiday season so we've been a bit short on staff and therefore short on time but we've about caught up again now. We've had an interesting couple of weeks as per usual delivering furniture to various events all across the country. Rambo's been relentlessly delivering to shows such as the Jalsa Salana, the World Superbikes at Silverstone, a large Girl Guides event in Leeds and the Navy base at Portsmouth to name but a few. Apparently he got some funny looks whilst at Portsmouth when he pointed to the HMS Victory and said "wow, that pirate ships massive!!" Bless him.
We've also had furniture at the Nottingham Cricket Ground for the 1st Test between England and Pakistan, the BBC's Zingzilla's live in the park in London and Global Gathering, the dance music festival in Stratford upon Avon.
We've been selling lots of furniture too so Richards been busy packing and wrapping that over the past couple of weeks.
We've also taken on a couple of new staff too this week to help us over the next few months so that will please Neil and the rest of the staff who prepare all the furniture for delivery.

Well its been another exiting week here at BE. Tony and Rambo have been rushed off their feet all week going here there and everywhere and we've had to promote Matt from a labourer to a van driver as we've ran out of staff. We've delivered to events such as Womad festival near swindon, two town shows in London, a collectors event at Earls Court, a Motorhome show in Manchester and the Royal Welsh show at Builth Wells to name but a few.
The selling side of the business is going well too. We've got some new products just arrived so as soon as we get a moment we'll get some photo's and get them on the web-site.
Both Ant and Rambo had good weekends racing last weekend. Ant got 3 wins out of 4 (He was comfortably leading the final race when he fell off, no damage to the bike, just his pride!) and Rambo got a 4th, 5th and 6th, a good showing 1st time out on his new bike.

Well it looked like a quieter week on paper this week but as per usual we seem to have been flooded in with last minute orders so our feet havn't touched the ground again this week. It has been business as usual for Neil in the yard with his team of merry men busy preparing all the furniture for delivery to events such as L'attitude in Suffolk, T4 on the beach in Weston Super Mare and Womad Festival near Swindon to name but a few. We've also had lots of local delivery's to attend to this week and we've had to put up with Rambo being in a bad mood all week because his I-Phone 4 hasn't arrived yet despite being on order for over 2 weeks! Ant and Rambo are both racing this weekend, Ant at Anglesey in Wales and Rambo at Northampton so good luck to both of these.

Waddington Air Show and Rab C Nesbitt

Sorry we've been a bit quiet on the blog front recently, had a manic couple of weeks. We've got over 20,000 chairs out at the moment so our warehouse is looking a little bare so I've finally got time to keep you up to date with whats going on. We've delivered 3 artic loads of furniture to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire this week for the Air Show and we still have several artic loads at Glastonbury, although they should be coming back soon. With the dry spell we've had they should come back reasonably clean too which will keep Neil happy. We've got tables going down to Western Super Mare for T4 on the beach and we've delivered Picnic Benches to the prestigeous Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester.
We've aslo had furniture at the Apple stores for the launch of the new I phone 4 and at the British Superbikes at Mallory Park.
Finally, Mark had a shock when he turned up to deliver chairs to a house in Lincolnshire when Rab C Nesbitt answered the door. Good job he had his camera with him!

BE at Glastonbury

Well its raining outside so that can only mean one thing, Glastonbury is here! Tony's had several trips down there this week in the Artic delivering all over the site and we've still got more trips to go. We've also had furniture at Download fesival last weekend and we've taken 3 artic loads to an agricultural show in Peterborough. The furniture we had at the Le Mans 24 hour race all came back in 1 piece, we just hope the same can be said about a load we took to the NEC this week. You know its going to be an interesting event when its called Tasting Beers Live. Sounds like fun!
One of our ex employees Audrey got married this week in a barn in Stamford so we supplied him with all the Round tables and Gilt chairs for that.
Ant had a succesful weekends racing in Scotland with two 1st's and two 2nd places, which puts him back in the lead of the championship at the half way point of the season. He, Rambo, Kris and possibly Simon are planning another moto-x trip this weekend so yet again they'll all be sore come Monday morning!

BE goes international!

Well the summer season has definatly started now and we are once again all rushed off our feet. We've taken on another temp for the summer months to help us out so that should keep Neil happy. We've gone international this week too, with furniture at the world famous Le Mans 24 hour race in France. We've also supplied 4500 trestle tables to an exam in London so that kept us and a local haulage company going non-stop all weekend. We are also taking the 1st Artic load of furniture down to Glastonbury this weekend for the festival at the end of the month so that will be why the rain has started.
Ant has got a busy couple of weeks racing lined up with knockhill in Scotland this weekend, then Rejika in Croatia the weekend after for the 3rd round of the ICGP Championship.

BE at the Apple I Pad launch

Exiting times here at BE as this week we have supplied Apple with furniture in several top stores for the launch of the new I Pad. We have also supplied furniture to a large local music festival, a collectors fair in Milton Keynes, a large craft fair at Blenheim Palace, a Boat Show at Crick Marina and the London Expo, a large Memorabilia show in London.
We have a new recruit that started today. He's got a tough 1st day with a trip to London with Simon, Rambo and Mark. I hope Marks hugs don't put him off too much, we are going to need some help this summer.
The Benches that we got in the other day for selling all sold in the 1st week so we are now sold out of those. We must be selling them too cheap!
Finally we're planning a day out at Grantham Moto x track this weekend so we'll all probably be stiff and achey when we return to work on Tuesday. Fun times!

BE Racing

Team BE were out in force this weekend with Ant competing at Darley Moor in Derbyshire and Rambo at his local motocross race at Sproxton. Ant had another bad start to the weekend with a crash in race 1 but then made amends with a 2nd from the back of the grid in race 2, then 2 wins in races 3 and 4 on sunday. He's now 2nd in the championship with the next round being at Knockhill in Scotland on June the 12th and 13th.
Rambo also started the weekend badly with a bad crash in practice badly winding himself and bruising all down his right side. However he was on form for the races getting an 11th, 9th and 5th against some tough opposition.
His next race is at Tilton on the Hill in a couple of weeks time.

General Election

Well its been a hectic few weeks here at BE Event Hire, hence why we've been a bit short on blogs! The election certainly kept us busy supplying tables to Leisure Centres all over the country for the overnight counting to be done, and after all that there's still no clear winner. We've also had furniture in Westminster for a trade show, two artic trucks full to a flower show, another artic to a craft show as well as all the usual local delivery's and collections to attend to.
Ant raced at Mallory Park in leicester a couple of weeks ago, but had a bad weekend with a crash in practice and a breakdown in race 1, before finally getting a win in race 2.
Kris and Neil both had last week off on holiday (not together though, don't want to start any rumours!) so its good to have them both back this week.
The selling side of the business is getting very busy too, now that summers on its way. We've now got two full time packers and they are still struggling to keep up with the demand. We've just got some new banqueting chairs delivered so watch this space, they will be on sale soon!

Le Mans 2010

B E Event Hire had a trip to Le Mans this week to support their rider Ant Hart in the ICGP series, a support race for the "Le Mans 24 hours". Ant had never been to the circuit before and struggled with only 20 laps of practice before the race, but was reasonably pleased with qualifying 8th. The weather was hot and sunny for the race which was held on saturday morning in front of over 100,000 people and Ant had a bit of a lonely race eventually finishing 6th. He, Simon and Rambo (aka Teddy bear) then watched the racing well into the night before watching the crazy locals destroy there bikes in the camp sites! The next round of the championship is in Croatia in 8 weeks time so we'll keep you posted how he does there.
We've also had another busy week with the furniture sales this week too, and the hire side is starting to pick up a lot now the weathers improving. We've got delivery's to a large motorhome show this week as well as an Antique Fair at Ardingly, the London Marathon and a Costa Coffee event in central london to supply to.

Rambo Passes his HGV test

After breaking down on his first test (The lorry, not him!) he passed with flying colours 2nd time round so as soon as he gets back from his many holidays he'll be out and about in one of our MAN 42 Tonne trucks. Peterborough Festival of Antiques goes from strength to strength

Well we've finally settled down a bit here now after a manic couple of weeks organising the Peterborough Festival of Antiques. The weather just about held off and it was another really busy fair as you can see by the picture of the car park. On the friday morning Ant and Caroline worked out that they were serving 17 people per minute each on the till at gate 15, and I'm sure Audrey was doing similar on gate 14 in between eating hot dogs and sweets!
Else where we've been busy with the hire side of the business over the Easter weekend and we've finally had another container of new furniture arrive so we're fully stocked up for sales stock again.
Ant was racing at Pembrey in Wales this weekend too, although his defence of the 125 championship didn't get off to a great start. He was taken out in a 10 bike pile up in the 1st corner of the 1st race, then in the re-start he was leading when his front brake lever fell off! He won race 2 from the back of the grid, but had to retire whilst leading again in the 3rd race. With his bike un-repairable for the final start a fellow competitor lent him his spare bike and he managed a 2nd place from the back of the grid so it wasn't a bad end to the weekend. Team BE is off to support Ant at Le Mans next week as he competes in the ICGP European Championship so I'll keep you posted how he gets on.

Day at the races

Well its Gold Cup time at Cheltenham so Neils been busy all week getting furniture ready for that. Its also mothers day this weekend so as usual we've been delivering tables and chairs to the local restaurants again. As James has had a week off Richard (Carpet) and Rambo have been out and about in the van. Rambo's got a test date for his HGV class 1 in the beginning of April so he'll soon be a proper trucker. Simons got another enduro race this weekend, this time at Stourport near Worcester so fingers crossed he can beat cookie! Less than two weeks to go now till the Festival of Antiques at Peterborough so we're flat out getting ready for that. There are still stalls available in two of the buldings but space is runnung out fast!

Well its been another busy week this week here at BE. One of our artics has been out all week and we've had the 7.5 tonners all over the country too, not to mention the vans running about doing all the local work. Tony's been down near the south coast most of the week delivering and collecting to large Antique fairs. He and Mark went to Hinckley on wednesday to set up a large stage for a radio control car show, and James and Rambo have been down to Essex to a carp conference. Fishy business eh! We've also been busy preparing for our own event, the Peterborough Festival of Antiques, which is now less than 3 weeks away.
On a lighter note, we sent Mark to buy some tartan paint this week. I'd love to have been in the shop when he asked the assistant 2 litres of gloss tartan please! Bless him.

New Chairs

We've just had a delivery of another 5,350 new folding chairs to add to our ever increasing stock. We're selling them for £6.75 + VAT each and hiring them for 95p per week. It was a bit if an eventful delivery. The driver walked round the back of his truck just as the wind blew the door straight into his face. Mark then had to take him to casualty to have stitches in a large gash in his forehead. Whilst waiting for him to be treated Mark decided to park the van in a supermarket with an underground car park, only realising a little too late that it didn't fit. He had to reverse out against all the traffic coming in bringing the whole place to a stand-still for about 10 minutes. We only employ the best of the best you know!!

Busy Week for B.E

Well we've had a busy week this week for the time of year. We've dusted off the cobwebs on 1 of our Artic's and it's gone to Kent to deliver to an Antique Fair. We've got a couple of trucks in London today delivering to a stamp fair in Westminster and we've got the usual local delivery and collections to attend to. Rambo took his first solo run in the 7.5T truck today. He should get his provisional for his Class 1 any day so he'll soon be out and about on the dreaded "L" Plates in one of our artics. We're out of stock on some of the sales furniture so we're desperatly waiting for more to come in so we can keep Jez going with his wrapping. Should be here in the next couple of weeks so I'll keep you posted when it comes.

Simon, Ant and Rambo got down and dirty this weekend at Chatteris Motocross track. It was a case of survival of the fittest though so no guessing who won. BE Event Hire are off on a trip to Le Mans this April in support of there rider Ant Hart in the ICGP championship. Ant will be riding a Yamaha TZ350 in a support race to the prestigious Le Mans 24 hour endurance race. The team are looking forward to the trip although sleeping in the same tent as Rambo is a scary proposition!
Talking of Rambo, he successfully failed his HGV test this week for hesitating to overtake a scooter. Who says we don't employ careful drivers! Better luck next time mate.
